Running For Mercy

The Mercy Centre Uganda

Mercy was a child who lived near to where we work in South Asia, rescuing children from slavery in the brick kilns. Mercy was found dead. She had been violently abused and raped. She was just three years old.

On hearing this news, we knew we had to do more to help children like Mercy. We want to build a network of crisis refuges in some of the most dangerous places on the planet to offer safety and sanctuary to women and children like Mercy.

The first Mercy Centre is planned for Uganda, a country where human trafficking and violence against women and children is rife. The Mercy Centre will be a place of safety to allow them to rebuild and restart their lives afresh with the help of a team of dedicated professionals who can support them overcome the pain and trauma.

Running For Mercy

Opening the Mercy Centre costs money – and that’s where we need your help. We are launching ‘Running For Mercy’, an initiative to get you and your friends and family active for such a life-changing cause.

This May or June (Or any other times that suits you), if you can run a marathon, a 5k or 10k or just walk a kilometre with your children or grandchildren, we need you to pitch in and help. It doesn’t matter how far you run or how much you raise; we need everyone to help who can!

"I will never forget the call telling me a three-year-old girl had been raped and killed... we have to open Mercy Centres to ensure this never happens again."

Becky Murray, CEO, One By One
