Rwanda Launch

In 2024 we will be launching One By One Rwanda. In partnership with the Rwandan government, we will be working with a team of lawyers to start private prosecutions, gaining justice for victims and supporting them through the restoration process.  We are so privileged and excited to be starting this new programme and seeing another country added to the One By One movement.

Why Rwanda?

As it stands there have only been a handful of successful convictions since the anti trafficking law was introduced in Rwanda in 2018. Tragically, so often in Rwanda cases against perpetrators are often dropped due to lack of prosecutable evidence and survivors are left with little support. One By One will be supporting the system by providing survivors access to professional trauma informed care.

When our team visited Rwanda we met with a woman who travelled to Uganda to work at a supermarket. When she arrived, there was no supermarket, instead she was forced into a brothel for several years. We also met with a young man who was kept as a sex slave and abused for over a year. Sadly there are so many more cases like this in Rwanda. Our heart is to work with partners in Rwanda to help bring justice for survivors.

We thank everyone who is able to support this project as we aim to expand into another country and help many lives who are at risk of exploitation.

This is a ground breaking programme to bring human traffickers in Rwanda to justice

What's next?

Our immediate plan is to:

* Work with lawyers to identify cases of human trafficking.

* Bring criminal proceedings against any perpetrators who are identified.

* Partner with local organisations to provide after care and counselling to those who have been impacted.

Join the Movement

We can’t do this alone, and in this first year we estimate our costs will be $100,000 – that’s about £82,000. We need individuals, churches and businesses to partner with us on a monthly basis and become freedom builders, or make a one-time donation to help us reach our goal. Please donate and help us bring justice to victims in Rwanda.

Help trafficking survivors in Rwanda. Your gift today will bring justice.
